Presently, the country’s self-exclusion list numbers more than 30,000individuals, with 30,451 people signed up and another 4,000 joiningsince early May. Out of the total number of people who have used the self-exclusion program, 30,392 have excluded on their own, with 59 being added onto the list by a court order. The list has also been expanding, not necessarily because of a surge in gambling activityor irresponsible gambling, but because there has been a focus on making the self-exclusion registry more available and easier to onboard with. “The system offers a confidential and secure way for individuals to protect themselves from gambling addiction,” the agency said. Anyone who has been added to the list is not going to be allowed to gamblein the country and on any of the regulated platforms. However, an issue of people registering and playing with unregulated websites continues, as the country is still trying to tackle its illegal gambling market.
