According to local reports, including News 4 San Antonio, the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle CasinoHotel has placed a concrete wall in front of the entrance of its property. This is part of ongoing measures to strengthen the property’s security.

Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Beefs Up Security

On September 27, a mass shooting left two people dead and several others in critical condition. Apart from blocking the entrance where the shooting took place, the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas has enacted there have been other measures adopted by the tribal nation.

Among those are increased armed security staffers, as well as screening of suspicious vehicles, as well as mobile security stations that keep shifting in order to ensure that they cover the grounds efficiently and act as a deterrent and early response force.

As to why the concrete wall has been erected, there is no official statement, but this could very well do with a reorganization of the areas where the casino and property want to focus their efforts, channeling footfall through better secured entrances.

As to the motive behind the attack, police have not produced any reason as to why Keryan Jones, 34, of San Antonio, opened fire on people at 11:45 pm local timeon that fateful evening. Among the victims were Marcus Antley, 66, and Alicia Sanchez, 32. Sanchez was a mother of five.

Multiple agencies, including the Kickapoo Tribal Police, which administers crimes on sovereign tribal land, have responded to investigate the case, but Jones’ reasoning for the attack has not been made clear.
